From Our Clients

A selection of feedback from people who came to us with different situations and different levels of familiarity with pension matters.

ZH

Zainab Hamid

Petaling Jaya · Retired civil servant

I was confused about why my pension amount seemed lower than what my colleagues received. The team at Teguh reviewed everything calmly with me and helped me put together a proper appeal. It took a few months but the matter was eventually resolved. The thing I appreciated most was being kept informed — I always knew what was happening.

Rajan Muthusammy

Klang · Former factory supervisor

My wife and I came in with a big folder of EPF documents and honestly didn't know where to begin. The consultant read through everything and explained our position in a way that finally made sense. We didn't proceed with anything beyond the initial review — we simply felt better knowing where we stood.

Shah Alam · Account executive

I contacted Teguh on behalf of my elderly father who was disputing a pension decision he'd received. Doing it by phone worked well — they sent documents by email and we walked through them together on the call. The process was slower than I hoped, but the outcome was what we were looking for. Clear about what they could and couldn't do from the start.

Norhaida bt. Azmi

Kuala Lumpur · Teacher (retired)

We arranged the Family Pension Continuity service for my husband and myself. We have children still in school and wanted the survivor arrangements documented properly while we still had the energy to do it. The process was thorough — we now have a complete record that our children can refer to if they ever need it. Very glad we did this.

Subang Jaya · Former government clerk

I was told my qualifying service period was shorter than I believed. Teguh reviewed my records and confirmed there was a discrepancy. They handled the appeal correspondence and I didn't need to deal with the back-and-forth myself. It wasn't a quick process, but that's just how these things work — it's not Teguh's doing. They kept me updated throughout.

Ipoh · Self-employed (EPF contributor)

Consulted by phone from Ipoh. I was approaching 55 and had contributions across a few employment periods with different employers. They pulled it all together and gave me a clear written summary. What I liked was that they told me plainly there was nothing wrong with my account — they didn't suggest any further work just to charge for it. That meant a lot.

Case Summaries

Three Matters We've Worked Through

These summaries illustrate the kind of work we do and the typical flow of each type of engagement. Names and identifying details have been changed.

Retirement Health Check · Former teacher, Selangor

The Situation

A retired secondary school teacher was uncertain whether she had received her full pension entitlement. Her main concern was whether her years of service had been counted correctly, including a period of unpaid leave taken to care for a parent.

What We Did

We reviewed her full service record, pension determination letter, and EPF statement. We confirmed that the unpaid leave period had been correctly excluded from qualifying service, and explained clearly how her final amount had been reached.

The Outcome

The calculation was accurate. She left with a written summary explaining her entitlements and the basis for the figures — and with a clear answer to the question she'd been carrying for months. No further action was needed.

"I just needed someone to confirm whether the number was right. Turns out it was — but knowing why made all the difference."

Pension Appeal · Former civil servant, Kuala Lumpur

The Situation

A retired administrative officer believed his qualifying service period had been calculated incorrectly. A period of secondment to a statutory body had not been included, which had reduced his monthly pension amount significantly.

What We Did

We reviewed the secondment records, the original determination, and the relevant pension regulations. We prepared a structured appeal with supporting documentation and submitted it to the Pensions Division, corresponding on the client's behalf through the process.

The Outcome

The appeal was upheld. The secondment period was included in the qualifying service calculation, resulting in a revised pension amount approximately 14% higher. The revision was applied from the recalculation date, not retrospectively — a limitation we had explained upfront.

"They didn't promise anything they couldn't deliver. But they handled it properly and it worked out."

Family Continuity · Household with public and private provisions, Penang

The Situation

A couple in their early sixties — one a retired police officer, one a long-term EPF contributor — wanted to ensure their three adult children understood what survivor benefits they would be entitled to and through which channels.

What We Did

We reviewed both retirement provisions in detail — the public pension scheme entitlements for the police officer and the EPF account of his wife. We documented survivor and derivative entitlements for each, prepared guidance notes for the children, and produced a consolidated household record.

The Outcome

The family now holds a complete, organised record covering both retirement provisions and what their children would need to do and who to contact in different circumstances. A meeting with the children was also arranged to go through the record together.

"We'd been meaning to sort this out for years. Now it's done and the children know exactly what to do."
