Why Teguh

What Makes the Difference
When You Work with Us

There are other legal firms in Malaysia. Here is what distinguishes working with Teguh — and why clients who've been through the pension process with us typically describe it as calmer than they expected.

Six Reasons Our Clients Feel More Settled

These aren't marketing phrases — they reflect how we've structured the work from the beginning.

Dedicated Pension Expertise

We work only within retirement entitlement law — EPF reviews, pension appeals, and family continuity planning. This focus means our knowledge is deep and current, not spread thin across many practice areas.

Plain-Language Every Time

Jargon-heavy advice leaves people more confused than they arrived. We translate every finding into everyday language — and follow it up in writing so you can revisit it at home.

Fixed, Stated Fees

Each service has a clear price published in advance — RM 600, RM 1,240, or RM 1,900 depending on scope. No hourly surprises, no escalating invoices partway through a matter.

No Pressure, No Rushing

We don't close consultations with a hard sell or manufactured deadlines. You hear what we've found, you ask your questions, and you decide whether to proceed on your own timeline.

Everything in Writing

Every engagement produces a written summary you keep. This matters for family discussions, future reference, and for dependants who may need to use the information years later.

Accessible in KL & Remotely

Our Wisma UOA II office is easy to reach from across Kuala Lumpur. For those further away, we work just as comfortably by telephone or video — the quality of the engagement doesn't change.

Professional Expertise

Retirement Entitlement as a Dedicated Field

Pension law in Malaysia sits at the intersection of employment law, public service regulations, and EPF fund administration. A generalist legal firm can handle the broad strokes — but the specifics of KWAP pension calculations, EPF withdrawal conditions, or survivor derivative benefit documentation require familiarity with material that most practitioners don't touch regularly.

At Teguh, this is all we do. Our team reviews EPF statements and pension determination letters week in, week out. We recognise common errors, know the correct calculation methods, and understand the appeal process at each administering body. That depth makes a practical difference.

Specific experience with EPF (KWSP), KWAP, and private retirement scheme entitlements

Familiarity with common determination errors and how they are identified

Knowledge of appeal procedures at each relevant administering body

Updated understanding of current Malaysian retirement legislation and regulatory changes

Consultations paced to suit the client — no rushing through important details

Family members are welcome to attend — matters are explained for everyone present

Follow-up questions are welcome — we don't close a matter until you feel you have what you need

In-person, telephone, or video — the same quality of care in each format

Client Service Excellence

A Consultation That Feels Like a Conversation

Retirement is a significant period of life. The conversations around it deserve a particular kind of attentiveness. We don't operate on tight time slots or one-size explanations. We listen to the specific situation in front of us, and we explain what we find in a way that makes sense for that person — whether they're a retired civil servant, a long-term EPF contributor, or someone trying to help an elderly parent sort through paperwork.

Bringing a family member to an appointment is not just allowed — it's often very useful. Important retirement decisions affect households, and we're comfortable explaining the same thing in different ways until everyone is clear.

Value and Pricing

Fees You Can Plan Around

Legal fees are often unpredictable — hourly billing that accumulates faster than expected, or vague "from RM X" quotes that leave the actual cost unclear. We take a different approach. Each of our three services has a single, stated fee. You know the full cost before the work begins.

For a Health Check at RM 600, an Appeal at RM 1,240, or a Family Continuity engagement at RM 1,900 — you receive the full scope of that service for the listed amount. If something falls outside that scope, we tell you upfront before proceeding.

Service Fees at a Glance

Retirement Entitlement Health Check RM 600
Pension Decision Appeal Support RM 1,240
Family Pension Continuity Service RM 1,900

All fees stated inclusive of consultation and written deliverables.

Distinctive Features

What You Won't Find Elsewhere

Consolidated Family Record

For family continuity engagements, we prepare a single, organised document covering all derivative entitlements, dependant provisions, and contact points — ready to pass on and use when needed.

Appeal Letters in Plain, Firm Language

Our appeal correspondence is professional and well-organised — clear enough to be understood by the administering body, thorough enough to address the matter properly. Not vague, not aggressive.

Remote Consultations Without Compromise

Clients outside Kuala Lumpur can receive the same standard of service by phone or video. We send documents in advance, work through them together, and follow up in writing just the same.

Statement Review Before You Decide

We assess your EPF statements and pension records honestly — including situations where everything appears in order. If there is nothing to address, we tell you that plainly rather than finding something to bill for.
